Everyone post your desired website features in this thread please.

Dwain and I will try to keep the OP up to date with all submissions.

Wishlist Items:
  • Since we are all from different time zones around the world, is it possible to convert times which are posted on the site to be the members local time? I think this would be a really great feature which will make organising events much easier. I know you guys are awesome at programming so how bout it? :D or is it just too much effort? - Pete
  • Event Calendar - LuckySword
  • Links to bnet profile in user profiles - LuckySword - Done
  • A page that ranks our rostered members by battle.net league and points, kind of like an in-house ladder. - Done
  • I think we need the ability to upload images, mostly just for news-writers. I dislike the idea of our news articles being dependent on some random image host like imageshack or something. - LuckySword
  • Ability to jump to specific pages - Maareek
  • Ability to tell what you have or have not read - Ratfink
  • Ability to jump to earliest unread post - Ratfink (dependent on above item)
  • Ability to subscribe to a thread (email) - Jarc
  • I like the idea of having, underneath the 'Team Roster' on the right, also another list of members underneath who have registered interest in being recruited. - LuckySword - Done
  • Private forum category for pteam members only - Jarc
  • Double-post protection. Considering implementing a limit of posting frequency, like only one post per 10 seconds, to prevent the double-postage which has been happening a lot lately.

Sure, this sounds like a pretty good idea. I think it's a feature that could be added using our bbcode engine. Hi Daniel! ^^

I imagine we could have something like [timezone=UCT+10]18:00[/timezone]

What you reckon daniel?

By the way people, you know what I can see coming? A million other threads just like this one. So what I am going to do is rename this thread the "Website Wishlist" and everybody can post feature requests here :)

I'd already considered that as a potential future BB after I saw TeamLiquid with something similar, so it's definitely doable.

Here are a few features I envision:
  • Event Calendar
  • Links to bnet profile in user profile
  • A page that ranks our rostered members by battle.net league and points, kind of like an in-house ladder.

I just had an idea:

Do we not have a "view new posts" button, or did I just miss it? If we don't, I think we should get one.

Actually, if we're talking about a "wish"list, I'd wish for a view new posts button which takes me to a page where Jessica Alba reads me every new post while wearing a bikini and taking time every now and then to lick a sucker. If that can't be arranged, though, I'm fine with just a view new posts button ... I've got a good imagination.

Somewhat linked to maars post

Ability to subscribe to a thread. Then when you go in your profile, you have a list of subscribed threads and it tells you if there has been a recent post in the thread (sorted by most recent post). Possibly add the ability to send an e-mail notification when a reply is made but I dunno who'd use it really.

Well the thing is I designed the navigation panel (similar to teamliquid) so that the threads you see there are ordered by recent activity, meaning the higher-up ones have been posted in most recently. This has the effect of a recent posts feature (without showing the actual posts til you have a look).

Fair enough. I assume this means the Jessica Alba idea wasn't feasible? Pity.

On a more serious note, I missed you, JE. Who but you could pretend an actual idea was in any way linked to one of my nonsensical ramblings. ;)~

Oh, and also: every now and then when I make a post and return to the forum index it'll tell me that my post was made in the future. I think we should make it so all of my posts show up like that, so everybody will know that I always come first. ... Wait, nevermind.

I also have a craving for something that tells me at a glance what's new since I last visited. It drives me nuts that I have to memorise the last time I was here then scan the "Last Reply" time column for anything newer than that time.

Unfortunately that doesn't meet my needs, because it doesn't tell me which ones I haven't read yet; it's just a list of threads ordered by recency, the vast majority of which have probably not changed since I last read them.

I've been tossing up some designs as to how to get the system to remember what threads you've read (not as simple as it sounds), so it can highlight to you threads that have been posted in since you last read them... so pending discussions with Dwain about it maybe we'll see that in a future version.

I don't think this is the type of thing that's ment to be in the wishlist buuut.. anyone know if Thanatos is playing sc2? he was absolute favourite training partner in bw, could easily play 15+ games in 1 sitting with him without getting bored. So yeah. I'm wishing for Thanatos to come back ;)

- Option to change our avatar in profile section.
- Roster needs to be sorted into either (Country, Battle.net League or League/Points Based)
Within the perfect architecture of thought, Logic may often provide the structure -- but from emotion came the inspiration.

Check this thread about how to change your avatar. We should probably make it more obvious how to do this in the profile section though...

Was by country then join date/clan exp on the old site iirc? Was a good system imo.

Don't know if this is an easy fix but ;

If you're starting to write up a message and close the window/tab, there should be a warning telling you you're about to close the page, with <Yes> <No> (to stay on page or close page) option type of thing.

Mainly thinking about long newsposts in the future.
